Frequently Asked Questions

  • People-pleasing isn’t just about being nice—it’s about chronically putting others’ needs ahead of your own, often at the expense of your well-being. Many women I work with don’t come into therapy identifying as “people pleasers.” Instead, they talk about feeling anxious in relationships, struggling to say no, or feeling overwhelmed by how much they do for others.

You might be a people pleaser if:

    • You feel guilty setting boundaries

    • You say yes when you want to say no

    • You avoid conflict, even when something feels off

    • You often wonder, “Do they still like me?” or “Did I upset them?”

    • You feel responsible for other people’s emotions

    • You don’t always know what you want or need—because you’re so focused on others

These patterns often come from a good place—caring deeply, wanting to keep the peace—but over time, they can lead to anxiety, resentment, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Therapy can help you untangle these dynamics and start showing up more authentically in your life and relationships.
